"Thanksgiving is a joyous invitation to shower the world with love and gratitude." -Amy Leigh Mercree
As I reflect over past Thanksgivings, many images come to mind. I recall countless meals spent with family and friends, watching the Macy’s parade and football games, while sneaking into the kitchen for one more slice of pumpkin pie. Of course, those were times for wearing elastic-waist pants so I could circle back for seconds of all my favorite dishes.
The idea for The Roost came to us in the middle of the pandemic when the whole world seemed to be steeped in uncertainty and frustration. Along with everyone else, we were weary. The pursuit of joyful living seemed like a worthy mission for our new website and the best antidote to our doldrums.
On those occasions when I feel less than joyful, my faith and family are the lifelines that keep me grounded and optimistic. I’m also finding that practicing gratitude is essential to achieving that abiding joy that doesn’t dissipate when life gets bumpy. What better time than Thanksgiving to adopt a grateful mindset and commit to counting one’s blessings year-round?
I’m ever thankful for health, family and good friends. I’m also incredibly grateful for you! Thank you for being a part of our Roost community. I hope your Thanksgiving Day is filled with joy, love and gratitude.
