As mothers to two daughters each (including two in middle school), Farrah and I confess that we often feel like we’re in the thick of it. Motherhood is a joyful blessing that seems to simultaneously reveal our strengths, as well as our weaknesses and shortcomings. We’re reminded of a favorite passage below from Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women. Thank you to our own mothers, Janice and Marilyn, who have shown so much love and encouragement over the years. You have provided the very best examples for your girls to copy, and we hope to be half as good as you!
“…I must try to practice all the virtues I would have my little girls possess, for I was their example. It was easier to try for your sakes than for my own; a startled or surprised look from one of you, when I spoke sharply, rebuked me more than any words could have done; and the love, respect and confidence of my children was the sweetest reward I could receive for my efforts to be the woman I would have them copy.”
“Oh, mother! if I’m ever half as good as you, I shall be satisfied,” cried Jo, much touched.”

Cheers to every single mama out there! We know quite a few who unfortunately carry the pain of losing a mother and, in some cases, a child. Our hearts are especially with you this Mother’s Day, and we’re sending extra love your way!
