Fall floral arrangements for your thanksgiving celebrations

While you’re running through the grocery store for the third time the week before Thanksgiving (we will be, too!), you might have time to stop briefly at the flower counter and grab a few stems to spice up your home for the occasion. Whether it’s a beautiful centerpiece for your entry or buffet, or some thoughtfully placed votive-sized arrangements, it doesn’t take a whole lot of effort to make a big impact. The arrangements we make in the video are fairly easy to compose, but still add elegance to any table or counter-top. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when arranging fall florals.

Medium/Large Size Bouquet

  1. Select 2 or 3 varieties of flowers that have complimentary colors, along with some simple greenery to mix in and add volume.
  2.  Grab any tall feathers you may already have (we used turkey feathers) or other elements from your local craft store to bring a little seasonal flair to the bouquet.
  3. Start by choosing your center flowers, and then begin rotating around the bouquet, adding 3-5 of each type of flower as you go.
  4. Add your feathers and other longer elements to give your bouquet height variation.
  5. Depending on how tall your vase is, decide how much of the ends you need to trim off so that the bouquet sits at a suitable height for the vase.
  6. If your vase is on the large side and you want to make more compact, just grab a rubber band and bind it together. Voila – your centerpiece is complete.
 Votive Size Bouquet
(You only need one type of flower for this arrangement.)

  1. Begin with two or three flowers cut down to the size of your votive.
  2. Add in some greenery that’s a few inches taller to add interest.
  3. If you really want to make it a show-stopper, add feathers to this miniature version.
Tips: Take a trip around your neighborhood or backyard with a pair of clippers to find your greenery or seasonal elements. Remember to add the “flower food” packets that come with the grocery store flowers. These  really do help the flowers last longer. Also, remember to change the water in your vase every few days. You can also trim an inch off the stems when you change the water, which will help prolong the vibrancy of your bouquet.
