feels like fall: little things to elevate the season

We're coming off the most gorgeous weekend in Charleston, reminding me why autumn is a favorite time of year in the Lowcountry. I also love the mental reset associated with back-to-school and new fall rhythms. I'm finding myself in the kitchen more these days, trying out new recipes and cooking up old family favorites (like the pumpkin chili below). I've also slipped into a more consistent workout routine over the last few weeks. I've been enjoying my usual neighborhood run, along with (new to me) Pilates classes. Finally, I've entered a season of seeking. I've b[...]

Puppy love: fun finds to spoil your fur baby

Today's post is unabashedly for the dog-lover. We're sharing a round-up of fun pet finds, including our own fur babies' tried and true favorites. The Wild Weenies, in particular, have been a huge hit with Scout and his buddy Ash, the friendly giant. Laughing about the name, Farrah and I had to resort to these treats to make the dogs cooperate for this photo shoot! We hope you find something to share with the four-legged friends in your life! 1.[...]

Summer beach bag essentials

Charleston, SC

My absolute favorite time of year is summer. Through the years my life during summer has drastically changed. From the carefree days of childhood, to the years of motherhood and chasing around toddlers covered in sunscreen and sand; it’s come full circle and I’m forever and always a summer girl. What do I love about summer? The refreshing jolt you feel as you catapult yourself into the water for a swim, running around everywhere with bare feet, wearing light cover-ups to stay cool, letting my hair air dry in the sun, and always curling up with a good book to wa[...]

revitalizing your garden for spring

Charleston, SC

One of the main things I start to miss during the winter is vibrant color. Charleston is a place that is known not only for its colorful historical architecture but also for its blooms. Every Spring I feel invigorated as soon as I start to see buds forming on all the plant life. It creates a huge sense of anticipation for me! The first weeks of Spring are when Charleston is at its finest. Whenever I think of The Holy City, I picture historical buildings downtown, white porches, and gas lanterns embellished with colorful plant life and greenery. We are very fortuna[...]

5 favorite things – travel edition

Charleston, SC

On my recent trip to New York, I was thinking about how I travel and what items people deem "worthy" to make their trip better or more comfortable. I've pulled together my list of items that over the years I've realized really make a difference, plus a cool new find I spotted in NYC and couldn't wait for Harry to try.  Airplanes are just plain uncomfortable! As a kid, I used to have butterflies of excitement for weeks before my flight. These days, I'm strategizing how I can get through it with the least amount of discomfort and distract myself for as lon[...]

a new fall tradition

Autumn is in full swing, and I've been savoring the cooler temperatures, cozy evenings at home and a little extra time with my girls. Whether it's baking on Saturday mornings or making Wednesday game night a regular thing, having little traditions to plan and look forward to brings joy to the entire family. As the seasons change, so do our routines and traditions. A recent trip to the mountains left us hoping to return every fall to enjoy the fresh air and glorious foliage!  Porch View: Sunrise over the Mountains F[...]
