A gorgeous book to inspire your next celebration

As a longtime admirer of James T. Farmer's aesthetic, I happily added his newest book to my collection. Celebrating Home A Time For Every Season has got to be one of the prettiest entertaining books I've seen in a long time. Arranged by seasonal gatherings, each chapter begins with a lovely watercolor invitation and often a sentimental poem to mark the occasion. Last Friday, Farrah and I did something that felt a little indulgent. Summer Reading: highs + lows

Farrah has written about this in the past, but I also find joy in reading and prefer escaping in a book to watching the latest show on Netflix. It happens every May. The summer illusion sets in, and I foolishly believe I'll be able to slow down and savor the season while using the longer days to catch up on every facet of my life. As mothers to two daughters each (including two in middle school), Farrah and I confess that we often feel like we're in the thick of it. Motherhood is a joyful blessing that seems to simultaneously reveal our strengths, as well as our weaknesses and shortcomings. Party games, dressing up and acting ridiculous might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it certainly is mine!
