Meet Lori & Farrah
Behind The Roost
In the pursuit of joyful living
Hatched during our quarantine garage workouts, The Roost is a product of our friendship and it’s where you’ll find us exploring our shared passions for design, travel, books and more. Although we have different backgrounds and perspectives, we’re two birds of a feather who refuse to chase perfection. Given a choice, we’ll take messy and interesting over staged and airbrushed any day of the week. It’s our hope to inspire, entertain and encourage you (and ourselves) to live joyfully and in the moment.
What’s bringing you joy these days? Send us a note–we’d love to hear from you!

Favorite Bird: Hummingbird
Guilty Pleasure: Dark Chocolate. Especially dark chocolate with orange. I hide it in secret cupboards so the rest of the family won’t find it. I’m horrible!
Favorite Drink: Prosecco, there’s just something lovely and refreshing about the bubbles.
Splurge Purchase: Tod’s driving moccasins, they’re ridiculously expensive, but they’ll last over a decade.
Favorite Scent: I change every few years, but I’m currently wearing Chanel – Madeomoiselle.
Favorite Meal: Orange and fennel salad followed by Sea bass with tomatoes and olives and herbs.
Favorite way to unwind: Steaming hot bath with fragrant bath salts and in bed by 9pm.
3 things I can’t live without: A good pillow, coffee, and Sunshine.

Favorite Bird: Peacock
Guilty Pleasure: Diet Coke. I try not to touch it because I used to be insanely addicted to the stuff!
Favorite Book: Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier. I love everything about this classic, gothic, suspense story–especially how the house (Manderley) is almost a character in its own right.
Splurge Purchase: Custom drapes and banquettes for the dining room. I’m one of those weirdos that actually wants to use my dining room. Enough with everyone hanging out around the kitchen island!
Favorite Scent: I love trying new perfumes, but the one I keep coming back to is Amber by Prada. I’ve been wearing it since 2006.
DREAM TRIP: Anywhere aboard the iconic Venice Simplon-Orient-Express.
Favorite way to unwind: I’m not going to win any races, but running keeps my stress levels down and helps me feel energized.
3 Things every house needs: Fresh flowers, stacks of books and memories. I’ve found that the surest way to make a house feel like home is to throw a party and fill it with family and friends.
My affection for loungewear started way back in the first grade when all I wanted to wear was a favorite Strawberry Shortcak[...]
