We often think that it’s the really big things in life that bring the most happiness and satisfaction. A new job, a new house, a new relationship, a new trip…For sure, all of these do matter and they undoubtedly impact our emotional well being. However, the older I get, the more I’m realizing the power of “little things” to significantly enhance my mood and the quality of my days.
In an effort to celebrate the tiny moments that add up and contribute to an overall sense of joy and contentment, we’ve decided to take turns sharing the small stuff. From the meaningful to the more frivolous, we’ll be letting you in on the little things that are floating our boats (or keeping our heads above water) these days. I’ll go first!
Live Inspired Gratitude Journal – I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Farin Doran, the creator of the Live Inspired Gratitude Journal, and I can tell you she’s the real deal! Her journal has become part of my nightly routine and I’m noticing that I sleep better when I take a few minutes to focus on all the good things at the end of each day.
Realglow Primer – I didn’t know I needed this in my life until I got a sample with purchase. I wasn’t someone who used primer and thought it was just an extra step that I didn’t have time for in my minimal makeup routine. But now, even on the days I go without makeup, I tend to reach for this magic potion to give my complexion a little boost.
Trader Joe’s Daffodils – Bright and cheerful and $1.99 per bunch, this little cup of daffodils is reminding me that spring is around the corner.
The Midnight Library – I’d heard a lot of buzz surrounding this one, and now I know why. Farrah and I read Matt Haig’s thought-provoking novel about life and perspective for our book club last month, and it led to one of the best discussions our group has ever had. This book gave me a renewed appreciation for the impact of my choices and made me grateful to be alive so that I can keep choosing to do better.
The Return of the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel – I think this show is incredible, and find myself giggling through an entire episode. The set, the costumes, the wit! Every character makes me laugh out loud, but Susie (Midge’s gruff manager) is my favorite. We’d been in a dry spell for the entire pandemic, and I’m so glad Season 4 is finally here!
What are the little things that are making you smile lately? Whatever they may be, we hope your weekend is filled with moments that bring you joy!
Jaime
