we know what guys want: the husband-approved gift guide you’ve been waiting for
Every holiday season, I’m at a loss when it comes to selecting gifts for the men in my life, particularly my husband who can be persnickety. Admittedly, I’ve had a few gift-giving fails over the years, such as the motorized tie rack and the “James Bond Weekender” bag that turned out to be just big enough to hold a tampon and a lipstick–but not at the same time.
Whether you’re the most confident gift-giver or you’re like me and can relate to some holiday-induced self-doubt, our husband-approved gift guide is here to help. Farrah and I turned to our husbands, Harry & Tom, who graciously agreed to share their best ideas with The Roost and make gift-giving for him a bit easier for all of us. Below you’ll find an assortment of items our guys personally own and love or hope to receive this Christmas. We think you’ll find something for every man on your list!
1. Tom loves pretty much everything from the Charleston-based Free Fly clothing company. The Flex Pocket Tee is a wardrobe staple. He also recommends these joggers and this vest.
2. & 3. Harry recommends this Jack Mason Pursuit Automatic Box Set. He also likes these hand-blown whiskey glasses, a nice choice for the guy who likes to sip bourbon.
4. Tom says he always gets questions and compliments about his Melin hats. “They are perfect for life on the water because they float and are waterproof. Other cool features include a hidden pocket, antimicrobial sweatbands and moisture-wicking.”
5. As an avid reader and author himself, Harry recommends Silverview: The Novel . Harry’s books, Summit and Ghost Moths, would also make great gifts for any guy who loves history mixed in with action and adventure.
6. Tom travels quite a bit for work, and these wrinkle-resistant shirts from Mizzen+Main have become his go-to. “These shirts will make you want to turn your other oxfords into handkerchiefs.”
7. If you’re wondering if a grown man still plays with LEGOs, the answer is YES! Harry has a tradition of buying a set every year to put together with his daughters. “They love it and it’s a great activity for a rainy, winter day.”

I love this article. My husband is a great gift giver but really difficult to buy for so this article was a big help.
